State Preps For Emergency Heating Assistance

Charleston, W.Va. (AP) -- The Department of Health and Human Resources says it's going to start accepting applications for emergency heating assistance next month.

The agency says funds are available to families who can't paying heating bills and are in danger of having natural gas or electric service suspended.

People who rely on bulk fuels such as coal also may qualify.

The agency says applications for assistance will be accepted at all DHHR Bureau for Children and Families Offices Jan. 11.

The program operates until funds run out.
