A Parkersburg murder trial may not take place until September.
John Christian is accused of killing 18-year-old Patrick Hupp on September 16, 2003, the first murder to take place in the city of Parkersburg in three years.
Christian says he was acting in self defense when 18-year-old Patrick Hupp was shot in the chest. Hupp later died at an area hospital.
A psychiatric examination is scheduled to be performed later this month to determine if Christian is competent to stand trial.
Tuesday morning a backup trial date of late September was set if the case isn't ready to go to trial on it's current July date.
