Time is money for the City of Parkersburg.
The city owes employees $279,000 for compensatory time accrued, most from more than two decades before 2003.
The employees can collect that money when they retire.
The city changed the police in 2003 and since then employees have had to take off the days that they earned or take their money before the end of each year to keep it from building up.
