Updated: A Winter Storm Warning Released

A winter storm warning has been released early Saturday afternoon.

Snowfall has tapered off this afternoon...as the focus shifts to a low pressure system off the Atlantic coast. Precipitation will end as snow showers by sunset.

An additional 1"-to-3" inches of snow is forecast from late morning on. Storm total snow accumulations by this evening will range from 7 to 12 inches.

This will be a heavy, wet snow...capable of bringing down tree limbs and causing power outages.

A winter storm warning means significant amounts of snow... sleet... and ice are expected or occurring. This will make travel hazardous or impossible.

Only travel in an emergency. If you must travel...keep an extra flashlight..food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

A low pressure system will slowly move across the area through this evening...bringing snow with it. The snow will tapering off to snow showers by late afternoon.
