Updated: Power Still Out for Many Area Residents

The heavy wet snow has knocked down trees and power lines this weekend leaving hundreds of Mid-Ohio Valley residents still in the dark Sunday.

Washington Electric Cooperative reports more than 1900 residents were still without power Sunday night.

Officials reported the number of Washington Electric Cooperative outages in each county are as follows:

Washington Co. - 850
Noble Co. - 850
Monroe Co. - 250
Athens Co. - 20

Their electricity is estimated to come back on by Wednesday.

AEP reports the following power outages and restorations:
Washington Co. - Restored
Morgan Co. - 287
Athens Co. - 432
Noble Co. - Restored
Meigs Co. - Restored

In West Virginia, Allegeny Power reports the following outages:
Wood Co. - 38
Pleasants Co. - 629
Ritchie Co. - 464
Tyler Co. - 734
Wirt Co. - 101

The warming shelter at the Noble County Sheriff's Department in Caldwell remains open Sunday. Noble County Emergency Management Agency officials say it will remain open until power is fully restored to the county.

EMA officials said people can come in just to get warm for a little while or if you need more assistance, the Red Cross is on standby to help. Call EMA at 740-732-7387 for more information.

The Washington County Red Cross Emergency Shelter has closed their location at the First Presbyterian Church in Marietta.

Jo Seyler, Exec. Direc. Washington Co. American Red Cross says, "By midnight there were no people in the shelter. And we had no calls asking for further sheltering. So we closed the shelter at midnight on Saturday. At this time there is no plan to open another shelter nor will we be giving hotel rooms. If we receive calls from people needing shelter we may consider opening a shelter. But at this time there are no plans to open a shelter again."

Crews are continuing to try to restore power across the Mid-Ohio Valley.

These were the latest figures as of 1:19p.m.

AEP Power reports the following power outages:
Morgan Co.: 359customers
Athens Co.: 1,000 customers

On their website, AEP Power says "AEP Ohio crews, along with additional resources from other companies, will focus today on restoring service."

AEP continues, "Outage restoration efforts are expected to continue through Tuesday for some areas."

Allegheny Power reports the following outages:
Wood Co.: 659 customers
Pleasants Co.:.: 604 customers
Ritchie Co.: 1,184 customers
Tyler Co.: 73 customers
Wirt Co.: 165 customers

On their website Allegheny power says, "more than 145,000 customers have been restored since the storm began. Damage assessment is ongoing, but until a more complete assessment is complete, we cannot establish estimated times of restoration."

Washington Electric Cooperative, Inc. reports the following outages:
Noble Co.: 1,000 customers
Washington Co.: 1,000 customers
Monroe Co.: 250 customers
Athens Co.: 50 customers

Washington Electric Cooperative, Inc. is now estimating full power restoration to occur sometime Tuesday.

Crews are continuing to try to restore power across the Mid-Ohio Valley.

These were the latest figures as of 11 p.m.

AEP Power reports the following power outages:
Washington Co.: 175 customers
Morgan Co.: 742 customers
Athens Co.: 1379 customers
Noble Co.: 103 customers
Meigs Co.: 173 customers

AEP is estimating power will be restored to residents there and in surrounding areas by 12 a.m. Sunday.

Extra crews from as far as Kentucky are helping the Washington Electric Cooperative to try to restore power to about 2400 customers in Washington, Noble, Monroe, and Athens counties. It is expected to be restored by Monday evening.

Allegheny Power reports the following outages:

Wood Co.: 442 customers
Pleasants Co.: 513 customers
Ritchie Co.: 1415 customers
Tyler Co.: 825 customers
Wirt Co.: 177 customers

For these customers, except Wood County, power is estimated to be restored by next Friday, February 12. An estimated restoration time for Wood County was not listed on Allegheny Power's web site.
