These days families are constantly on the go, and parents are often still working when their kids get out of school.

A local agency is working to keep children active after the bell rings. The Wood County Family Resource Network has dozens of ideas that will keep kids active and involved in the community.

The third annual Youth Expo is going on Monday at the Grand Central Mall. Families can check out 35 different agencies with everything from the Parkersburg Arts Center to 4H, and a variety of other after school programs.

Many parents are on the lookout for activities for their children, but this event actually started at the request of the area's youth.

"The youth are saying out there, 'there's nothing to do in this town.' Well, we have 35 exhibitors out here today to prove 'em wrong, so there is stuff to do and we'd love to get them more involved in activities," Shannon Morgan, director of the Wood County Family Resource Network, said.

The Expo started at 10:00 a.m. Monday and is set to wrap up at 5:00 p.m.
