A Wet Start to Little League Season

A ball cap, a glove and an umbrella; those are common items taken to baseball games this season.

Volunteers with the Marietta Bantam Baseball League say rain-outs have teams a little behind schedule on games.

They say it seems to be one of the rainiest May's they've seen, and the season's wet weather also makes it difficult to maintain the fields.

"The field doesn't look as good as what it normally does. We usually mow it at least twice a week, and actually with this type of weather it should probably be mowed three times a week, if you can get it in between rain showers," John Boley, a volunteer said.

Volunteers say it takes about four hours to prepare a field before each game.
