Five people are facing drug charges in Washington County today after two raids last night. After an ongoing investigation stemming from late May, the Washington County Sheriffs Department is now holding five suspects responsible.
Thursday night's drug raid was the result of an on-going investigation led by the Washington County Sheriffs Department. "We executed two separate search warrants, one at a residence on Front Street where we recovered marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and digital scales," says Mark Hiatt, Washington County Detective Sergeant. Not just one but two different drug busts occurred.
"The second search warrant was also executed at a residence in Marietta, where we also obtained marijuana and made multiple arrests," says Hiatt. Five individuals were arrested in total and have serious drug charges to face. "We arrested one individual for drug trafficking and we arrested four others for the possession of marijuana and the possession of drug paraphernalia," says Hiatt. These charges are not the first for one of the individuals.
"The residence on spring street had been the source of a search warrant back in late May where multiple individuals were arrested that time as well," says Hiatt. This type of drug bust isn't the first in the area. "Marijuana use is an on going problem in this community, the Sheriffs Office is doing their best to stop the activity. What strikes me the most is we're back at the same residence within a three month period, doing the same thing," says Hiatt.
Detective Hiatt also says that Washington County does employ a Drug Task Force who will be watching out for this kind of activity in the future. Both Ashley Wynn and Martin Gibbs have posted bail and were released. Camille Gazzale is being held on a parole violation. Ronald Fisher and Justin Knight remain in Washington County jail.
