WTAP reported several days ago about the Parkersburg Police Department increasing its bicycle patrols, and Thursday officers pedaled a little closer to that goal.
Police are preparing for the 40 hour training that's required to ride a bike on duty.
Thursday's eight hour course involves some classroom work, but most is being spent on the obstacle course and on the road.
Nearly a dozen officers will have taken the course by the end of next week.
