Ohio's governor was in Marietta last year for the Sternwheel Festival, but Thursday, he was in town for a different purpose.

Governor Bob Taft toured the Thermo Forma plant near Colegate Drive, whose 450 employees manufacture incubators and refrigerators used in scientific research.

Once known as Forma Scientific, it recently received an award for exporting goods, from the Ohio Department of Development.

"That's the kind of company we need to grow and attract in Ohio,” Gov. Taft said, "To provide good jobs for our people , and support our economy, and to support the taxes that come into the state because of economic growth."

Taft's was part of a three-day re-election campaign swing through the Buckeye State.

Recent polls indicate the race between Taft and Democratic challenger Tim Hagan to be closer than expected.
