Volunteer firefighters in the Mountain State can now rest a little easier, knowing their insurance coverage will continue past August.
Governor Joe Manchin announced Tuesday, starting September 1, West Virginia volunteer fire departments will receive broadform insurance coverage through the Board of Risk and Insurance Management.
Before BRIM stepped in, 281 of these fire houses were faced with losing that coverage, currently provided by BrickStreet Mutual Insurance Company.
Governor Manchin says this coverage, which is set to last through next June, will allow the Workers' Compensation Task Force much needed time to study the issue, and find a permanent solution.
