Belpre got a head start on their tax budgets for next year.
The city council approved the resolution of adopting the tax budgets for 2014 Thursday night.
This means they must approve a tentative tax budget prepared by the auditor.
A tentative tax is an outline of the auditor's predication of income and expenses for next year.
"I think we have a very strong council and a very strong mayor that has been very fiscally responsible for our community. We have watched very diligently what we spend and how we get our moneys in and where we generate revenue."
Actual expenditures will be governed by appropriations legislation in which the council will approve at a later date.
City council members say they will most likely start a full flex budget in October.
