A teen riding an ATV accidentally shoots himself when his gun falls to the ground.

It happened Friday around 5:30 in the evening on State Route 7 South in Clay Township.

Police say a 19 year old was attempting to ride an ATV with a shotgun while deer hunting.

Witnesses tell police the gun fell and fired a shot into his chest area.

Ohio law states it's illegal to hold a gun while riding an ATV.

The victim is in critical condition at St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington.

His name isn't being released at this time and the investigation is ongoing. Police say they have no reason to believe this is anything other than an accident.
