They start preparing for winter in early October when they meet with the tower and airline and talk about their snow plan on file with the
"We set stakes around the runways so the plows can see where to plow," Moore says. "Then we start doing preliminary maintenance on the equipment and then we start training on it."
Moore says they practice formations needed to drive on and properly move the snow off the runway and keep it from accumulating on the adjacent lights.
They have to blow it over the runway and taxi-way lights so they're still visible.
