UPDATE 7/1/2014 1:50 PM
The Marietta-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau says due to mechanical difficulties, Wednesday's American Queen visit is canceled.
The boat's next stop in Marietta is scheduled for July 6.
Get ready for the Queen.
That is, the American Queen - the largest steam boat of all time!
It's that time of year again when the historic steam boat makes its way past Marietta during its journey from Memphis, Tennessee.
With over 400 passengers who get out and explore downtown Marietta.
It's a great day for shops, restaurants, tourists and locals.
"Makes Marietta great, our downtown great, we have all those local businesses, you know, you need new bodies in there to thrive and it's nice to introduce them during this time of year when we have the festivals and a lot of things going on and hopefully they will come back all throughout the year because it's some place they enjoy," says Christian Hudspeth, with the Marietta-Washington County CVB.
The American Queen stops in Marietta on July 2nd and 6th.
Leisure travel season starts in the spring but in Marietta the Queen is the first big event of the season.
Of course, more to come with the River Front Roar just next weekend.
