People in Wirt County started their fourth of July weekend with a family filled event Saturday morning.
The Elizabeth Volunteer Fire Department put on their 35th annual Ice Cream Social.
It's a community tradition one that appeals to the kids in us all.
Not only do you get sweet treats and parade fun but it supports an important part of the town.
The yearly fundraiser helps the volunteer fire department with month to month expenses.
"It's a great showing of how people in Wirt County come together for an event, how they come together to support local organizations that they truly believe have a good cause. We time and time again ask the citizens of Wirt County to help us out and every time, they come through," says Elizabeth Fire Chief, Stephen Settle.
The Ice Cream Social started off with the 5-K Fun Run Saturday morning.
Festivities continue throughout the day with live entertainment, an auction and most importantly, ice cream.
