Armed Robbery at Athens Co. Grocery Store

A man pulls a gun on three grocery store employees in Athens County demanding money.

The Athens County Sheriffs Office says it all happened around 10:00 Wednesday night at the Foodland Grocery Store in The Plains.

They say a man was in the store on Tuesday evening and said he lost his cell phone. He returned again last night and asked if he could look for it in the back of the store.

Then he returned again at closing time pulling a handgun and telling three employees to get on the floor. Investigators say he then had those employees get money from the safe. Once he got the money, he zip tied the employees together and left.

Deputies say he left in a four door light vehicle looking similar to a Sonata.

He was wearing a gray pull over long sleeve and red hate.
