One of the Democratic candidates for West Virginia Agriculture Commissioner is trying to succeed his current boss.
Steve Miller has served as deputy under long-time current commissioner Gus Douglass.
He says the state's farmers have to deal with changes in technology...as much as the industrial world.
"When I was at WVU, sitting through those classes in chemistry, biology and bacteriology, I wondered what I would ever have to use this for," Miller says. "Today, I find out I use it almost every day. It's extremely important, I think, that you get someone with the experience and knowledge, not just about farming, because that's an important part of what we do, but it's a very small part."
Miller is one of five candidates running for the Democratic nomination for West Virginia Agriculture Commissioner in the May primary.
