He's accused of illegally destroying hundreds of documents. Now, the Ohio Attorney General's Office is stepping in and they're taking the search to Athens County Sheriff Pat Kelly's home.
We first told you the story last week, when county prosecutor Keller Blackburn was digging through a landfill looking for evidence. The sheriff was accused of destroying public criminal records.
Sheriff Kelly confirmed Saturday on the sheriff's office Facebook page that search warrants were executed in numerous locations.
He says he and his staff have been cooperating with the agents and BCI. He writes, "my office will continue providing the same level of professionalism that restored our office as a leader in our county. I pray for the same level of confidence in me you had when you reelected me by a landslide last year."
The sheriff has denied any wrong doing.
