One local bank is taking a stand against the number one killer of Americans, heart disease.
It's BB&T American Heart Association "Bank Day," for the Wood, Washington heart walk.
It's about raising an awareness and finding a cure.
"BB and T is involved because we're all affected," says the area executive for BB&T, Shawn Taylor. "There's someone in our family, someone in the community, someone that you know that has been affected by this disease and we just wanted to find a way to give back and help those who need help."
Teams raise money in the weeks leading up to "Bank Day." "We've had probably four or five teams dropping off money so far," explains Taylor. "Team Teagan is behind us right now dropping off around $8,000 which is just awesome. Between the other teams, we're probably going to approach $20,000 today."
To donate, anyone can head over to the Parkersburg BB&T and make a donation.
