A Washington County man was sentenced to 44 years in prison Thursday after being convicted of thirteen felony counts of rape and sexual imposition.
Rodney Delancey, 54, committed the crimes against local children, most of which were boys.
The Beverly man had at first faced more than 100 years behind bars, but the prosecution says it's still satisfied with the result.
"Sixty-four years, eighty-four years, those numbers suddenly become meaningless," said Kevin Rings, Assistant Washington County Prosecutor. "The goal is... to make sure the defendant will serve the balance of his natural life in state custody so that he will not be able to re-offend again against small children."
Delancey will be out when he's ninety eight. Rings says he has almost zero chance of being paroled.
