A Mineral Wells family will have to find a place to stay after their home was damaged by a fire Thursday afternoon.

The fire broke out at a home on Dickens Drive a little after 2:00PM.

By the time volunteer firefighters arrived on scene, everyone was out of the home.

The Assistant Fire Chief of the Mineral Wells Fire Department says the blaze started in the car, in the garage.

"It got up into the attic of the house, but they did have a lot of personal items they were able to save in the house," says Assistant Fire Chief Raymond Wright.

The home is considered a total loss and the flames nearly damaged the home next door.

Eastwood Volunteer Fire Department assisted.
