Blennerhassett Island Awarded For Honoring The American Flag

It's an award the people of Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park will never forget.

Park Superintendent, Matthew Baker, accepted the Sons of the American Revolution State Flag Award Saturday afternoon.

It's presented to individuals, companies and government agencies that fly the United States flag for patriotic purposes.

The island was nominated by Chapter President, Ron Barnes at the state meeting in March.

"Well, the SAR is an organization that helps preserve and honor the flag and preserve everything that the flag means. And so, for us to receive this award, it's just quite an honor," says Baker.

The flag award is part of the SAR's mission to promote history, patriotism and education.
