Break Ins Rise During Holidays

Not only does the holiday season bring lots of gifts and packages, but thieves.

The Marietta Police Department wants to make sure people are being extra careful.

With multiple house and car break ins over this past weekend, Captain Jeff Waite says the numbers pick up during this time of year.

Police say be careful what you put on social media, including pictures or mention of gifts, or even when you won't be home.

They say also pay attention to your trash because thieves will see the empty boxes and know what is possibly in the home.

Captain Waite says of course never leave anything valuable in your car and always lock it.

The break-ins around Marietta are not targeted at any one area so always be on the lookout.
