Bridge Inspection Now Under Way

One of what is expected to be a series of routine bridge inspections...officially got under way Monday.

The inspection work on the Fifth Street bridge is reducing traffic to one lane in each direction from 9 A.M. to 3 P.M. through Friday.

The good news is that there are alternate routes available nearby to get you to where you are going.

"It depends on where you're going," says Bridge Engineer Cliff Essig, of West Virginia Division of Highways District Three, "but you can use the Juliana Street bridge or the William P.A. Nicely bridge on East Street, would be two good alternatives."

This is one of a series of required inspections the DOH does each year...of bridges spanning both the Ohio and Little Kanawha rivers.
