Bridge Named in Honor of U.S. Navy CPO Andrew Mollohan

Another honor for a local soldier.

A bridge was dedicated in his honor Thursday morning.

It's the overpass at the newly-widened West Virginia Route 2 and Interstate 77.

It is now named for Chief Petty Officer Andrew Scott Mollohan, who served in the navy for more than 20 years.

He was awarded numerous medals as a member of the U.S. Navy's Submarine Force.

Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito spoke at Thursday's dedication ceremony, as did local native Keith Vannoy, who served with Mollohan.

Mollohan was 40-years-old when he died in November 2009.
