They're fighting for programs they say are vital to West Virginia.
Communications Workers of America (CWA) held a vigil Wednesday night in front of the Parkersburg office of U.S. representative David Mckinley.
They're asking the congressman to protect tax policies and funding that West Virginians count on as the fiscal cliff deadline approaches and major legislative resolutions are reached.
"We're hoping that decisions are made that are correct for our country, for the people, it's about the people," says Elaine Harris, CWA international representative. "I would hope that the congressman does make the right decisions for the people here in the 1st congressional district."
CWA wants Mckinley to oppose cuts to programs like Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security.
They also want the congressman to let Bush-era cuts for wealthy Americans expire, but preserve tax cuts for middle class and low-income families.
