Election Day in Washington County is one month away.
Friday, candidates for Marietta City offices explained their views on local business.
They appeared at a forum sponsored by the Marietta Area Chamber of Commerce.
The drilling boom has brought some additional cash to a tight city budget.
But candidates for city council differed as to whether drilling should be allowed in the city limits.
"I agree that around the water wells would not be a good location for an oil well," says Republican Michael Boersma, candidate for a Marietta Council-at-Large seat.
"To drill within the city limits, we have to watch for the proximity to other structures, so we don't have things exploding in our neighborhoods," says Democrat Harley Noland, Councilman At-Large.
Candidates for city treasurer and the board of education also appeared at the two-hour forum Friday morning at the Marietta Country Club.
