An accident on the foot of the Belpre/Parkersburg Bridge caused some traffic backup Sunday afternoon after a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle.
According to officials with the Belpre Police Department, while attempting to cross at the intersection at the foot of the Belpre/Parkersburg Bridge, a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle.
The name and condition of the victim is not being released at this time.
Authorities are urging every one to be extra cautious when crossing the street.
"Again, the old rule that we learn as kids 'Stop. Look. Listen. ' Everybody just needs to stop before they cross," says Patrolman Michael Stump. "Look in both directions and make sure everything is clear and keep an eye out for oncoming traffic."
The victim was taken to an area hospital. The investigation into the accident is still ongoing.
