Changes In Trails

At least one of the hiking trails at Fort Boreman State Park is getting a "makeover".

Wood County Parks Director Jeremy Cross told the county commission Monday some of the trails need to be re-located, one of them for safety reasons.

It plans to use a grant the county got three years ago for the project.

"There will be 400 feet that won't be straight boardwalk," says Commission President Wayne Dunn, "but will be curved and designed in a way to get maximum tourist use and appreciation."

The county has $78 thousand available for the project, and should be able to get that money by the end of this month.

Commission members also would like to see the park, which opened to the public in 2006, expanded by a couple of acres.
