Everyone across the valley are getting into the holiday spirit.

And Williamstown shared the holiday cheer by having a Christmas tree lighting ceremony.

The large turnout gathered at the city building to see the lighting of the holiday tree.

Area schools came out singing and playing Christmas carols while the crowd sung along with them.

This ceremony is a family tradition in Williamstown.

Community members say they're blessed to have this event celebrating the true meaning of Christmas.

"We just think it's a good idea, I mean we can have a Christmas tree lighting and just have the lighting and maybe say a few things from our city, but we rather have the whole city involved. We're very community oriented in our town and we want to keep everyone involved," says Event Director, Jean Ford.

Those in attendance enjoyed hot chocolate courtesy of Tim Horton's.
