Nearly 150 feet of copper wire stolen from an Athens County Verizon cell tower.
The Athens County Sheriff's Office says the report came in on Thursday, September 5, with a Verizon employee noticing the ground wire was taken outside of the control office on Antle Orchard road in Glouster.
Investigators say the thieves cut part of the fence around the area taking all the copper wire accessible, plus the bus ground that could only be reached by climbing the tower and unbolting it.
Deputies say the theft could have happened anytime between September 5, when it was reported, and August 19, the last time someone checked into the site.
No service was interrupted by the theft.
