Cornerstone Reception

They've all made life better in some way for our community and they were honored for their service.

It’s the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation's 50th anniversary year. The foundation received a $10,000 gift from superior Toyota, making it possible for them to choose 10 individuals or organizations to be recognized as cornerstones.

Those individuals were recognized with a reception at the foundation office.

“The common thread is a passion for their work, whatever it is they're doing and a devotion to a cause,” says Executive Director Judy Sjostedt. “All 10 have done something for a period of time that has laid the foundation for others to build upon.”

Sjostedt says just like a community foundation builds permanent resources for the good of people in a region, these individuals have built institutions or organizations or helped inspire others through their service.
