Criss Elementary Teacher Named Jan Dils Golden Apple Award Winner

It's no surprise to Criss Elementary School, as the January Jan Dils Golden Apple Award is announced.

She's been teaching for more than 30 years and is involved in just about every committee and program offered.

Mrs. Susan Williams is given the honor.

She is nominated by two other teachers who say in every aspect - committees, school programs, and teaching - she is a leader and an inspiration.

And if she isn't busy enough with dozens of meetings and programs, she is spearheading new ones, like a fundraiser or writing letters to soldiers overseas.

"For the kids. I love the kids. I own a house in Florida and my husband is retired and he'd really like for me to retire so that I can go to Florida with him whenever he wants, and gets away from this weather, but I'm here for the kids. That is why I went into teaching and that's why I'm still here," she says.

She is involved in everything from teacher activist to heading off math field day.
