A local school cafeteria worker is recognized for her kindness and wins WTAP's December Mom of the Month.
Roxanne Smith makes sure the kids at Blennerhasset Middle School eat well and stay healthy.
She's a devoted mother and always looks out for her students.
daughter Renecia, an airman stationed in Arizona, nominated her mom because she thinks she definitely deserves this honor.
"I always like to raise my kids; I never wanted them to move out," says Smith.
"Roxanne's our head cook and in addition to just feeding the kids -- she's a mother figure to a lot of them," says principal Jim Herstodle. "She takes care of our kids and if a kid needs something she goes out of her way to take care of them and she means a lot."
Herstodle says Roxanne is also active with school sports, athetic boosters, cheerleading... and integral in making Blennerhasset a great school.
