Threat Of Severe Weather Impacts Hunting Season Business

The weather last week may have been good for hunters, but for business; not so much.

Mountaineer Family Restaurant, which normally gets a lot of customers from hunting season, last week said business was below normal.

The weather, which wasn't as bad as expected, may've scared off some non-hunting travelers.

"I think people were really scared about what was going to be happening, so they didn't do the traveling like what they usually do," says restaurant owner Dave Short. "They stayed home on Thanksgiving, I think, because of the weather and what was going to happen."

Mountaineer Restaurant in the past decade survived serious changes in U.S. 50 that forced nearby businesses to close.

This is week two of hunting season in West Virginia, while the season began Monday in Ohio.
