Her campaign slogan is: "She's one of us".
The Democratic candidate for West Virginia's first district congressional seat was in Parkersburg Friday.
Thorn, who is Republican Congressman David McKinley's opponent, says she's been going door to door listening to voters' concerns.
She says the federal stimulus didn't go far enough to jump start the economy, and suggests that future federal dollars be directed more at local stimulus projects.
"Because not only do I hear about people needing jobs, I've talked to city, county and government officials," Thorn said Friday. "And you hear so much about roads, bridges that are crumbling, our waterlines and sewer lines. Those would be fantastic jobs to get people back to work; they can't be outsourced, and it also helps to rebuild our community."
Thorn also chided Republican members of Congress for voting against the stimulus in 2009, but taking the money for projects in their own districts.
