Demolition Of Old Bus Garage Under Way

The old bus maintenance garage in downtown Parkersburg is being torn down to make way for more parking for the Bureau of Public Debt.

The demolition of a historical building brings hope for Victorian Square.

For years, it was the home of the Mid-Ohio Valley Transit Authority.

Now, the complex housing the buses and their maintenance garage is slowly coming down.

Demolition is now under way.

Jim McCutcheon, one of the owners of the Public Debt property, says once the buildings come down, the land will be used to expand parking for public debt workers.

Authority General Manager Tim Thomas says it is seeking federal approval to house the buses at a new site at 12th and Plum streets.

For now, they're being kept at the bus terminal on Juliana street.
there are three buildings at the old site, which are slated to be demolished one at a time.
