They got half way up the river and the current took over.
The Indian Acres boat dock is closer to home but still parked in the wrong place.
Police and fire officials worked all morning to safely remove the Indian Acres boat dock from the Harmar Walking Bridge pier.
The dock was stuck there in high water since last week's storms. Police and fire boats started towing the dock upstream at about one o'clock this afternoon. But when they made the turn near the Marietta Boat Club, the current snapped the ropes.
Officials say they had to make a safety call to stop towing for both the boats and the dock.
The dock is now tied-up along west side of the river across from the Marietta Boat Club, until they can safely tow it back to Indian Acres.
