Deaton Pleads Guilty

Monday Jeffrey Deaton pleaded guilty to charges for operating or attempting to operate a clandestine drug lab.

In August, police arrested Deaton after a fire call for a structure at 1500 Core Road. The Eastwood Volunteer Fire Department responded with the help of mutual aid.

Once the fire was out, Eastwood requested the assistance of the fire investigation team who then called in the Wood County Sheriff's Office and the Parkersburg Narcotics Task Force.

Agents with the task force found items used for cooking meth on the scene.

His sentencing is January 28th.

Twenty-nine year old Jeffrey Deaton and 32 year old Sarah Whytsell remain behind bars Saturday.

They were both arraigned at the Wood County Magistrate Court Friday evening. Deaton received a $75,000 bond which he did not post. Whytsell received a $50,000 bond which she did not post.

Whytsell and Deaton are both at the North Central Regional Jail.

A morning garage fire calls out firefighter as well as the Parkersburg Narcotics Task Force and puts two people behind bars.

Twenty-nine year old Jeffrey Deaton and 32 year old Sarah Whytsell were both arrested for operating or attempting to operate a clandestine drug lab.

The fire call came in shortly before nine Friday morning at 1500 Core Road. The Eastwood Volunteer Fire Department responded with mutual aid from Deerwalk, Mineral Wells and the Parkersburg Fire Departments.

Once the fire was out Eastwood requested the assistance of the Fire Investigation Team. The F.I.T. then called in the Wood County Sheriff's Office and the Parkersburg Narcotics Task Force. Agents with the task force found items used for cooking methamphetamine on the scene.

While collecting evidence a 1999 Oldsmobile pulled up to the property. Agents spoke with the two car occupants and found a reaction bottle with what looked to be a recently conducted meth cook inside the car.

Deaton and Whytsell were both arrested and charged with operating or attempting to operate a clandestine drug lab. They're both at the Wood Count Holding Center awaiting arraignment.
