A teacher was named the West Virginia School Counselor Association's Elementary School Counselor of the Year Tuesday night at the Wood County Board of Education meeting.
Michele Fling received the honor for her great contributions towards the students.
The school counselor from Lubeck and Madison Elementary Schools was presented the award by Coordinator of Assessment and Student Services, Dianne Boggess.
Fling gave students at the meeting one word of advice.
"Kids, students that are here, as you go through school and to higher school, college, you know, if you just do your job and you're proactive, you can do this too," says Fling.
Fling is also a nationally certified counselor.
She has been a school counselor for 15 years.
