Hundreds of kids and their parents headed to Southwood Park this evening for the Fraternal Order of Police Blennerhassett Lodge 79's Annual Children's picnic.
Area agencies came together for the picnic where community members could enjoy food, games and the water slide free of charge. Participants say the event helps make police and fire more recognizable to community children and hopefully makes a difference in their lives.
"We love to be able to come out here and work with all the other surrounding agencies and enjoy the company of the youth in the area here," says PFC Travis Wolfe of the Parkersburg Police Department. "Get out here and make a bit of a difference for the children."
Organizers say this years picnic was better attended than any other year in the past.
