A fire does thousands of dollars worth of damage to the horse barn at the Washington County Fairgrounds.
The Marietta Fire Dept. says the call came in just after 11:00 Thursday night.
They say smoke covered the barn.
Firefighters say the horses were being removed by police and bystanders as they arrived.
"Fortunately some individuals who passed by noticed the fire and that there were animals housed and went into immediate rescue mode," says Marietta Fire Capt. Jack Hansis. "They got all the animals out as we arrived on scene."
They say damage is confined to two stalls.
Damage is estimated at $15,000.
It is a half a million dollar building.
It took firefighters to ten to 15 minutes to put out the fire.
Firefighters remained on scene until 2 a.m.
