Firefighters from around Wood County gathered Monday evening to honor fellow firefighters that died in the last year.
The Wood County Firefighters Association held their annual memorial service at the Parkersburg fire station.
This year one name was a read, Robert Law, a firefighter from Mineral Wells.
Lt. Kevin Siers lead the ceremony by placing a wreath at the memorial site and lead the group in a prayer to pay their respects to Law and all the firefighters across the country.
"Whether you're paid or volunteer, we all identify ourselves as firefighters," he says. "And when it's that much of a part of you, you're a family. This is a family just as well as blood relatives. It's just important that we pay our respect."
After the ceremony the firefighters headed back over to the station and enjoyed a dinner.
