Fatal Crash in Athens County

A teenager is killed in an crash in Athens County Tuesday morning.

The Athens Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol says around 7:30 that morning, a car driven by 17-year-old Kendall Sweany was stopped on old Rt. 33 at the intersection of US 33.

The patrol says she did not yield when trying to cross U-S 33 and she was hit by a car driven by John Miller.

Both cars landed in the median.

Sweany, of McArthur Ohio was killed. Her passenger, Ashley Fausnaugh, was taken to hospital with incapacitating injuries.

Miller was taken to the hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.

All of them were wearing seat belts.

Alcohol is not a factor and the crash remains under investigation.
