Fire investigators don't believe anyone was inside a home gutted by fire early Friday morning at the corner of 13th and Spring Street. Demolition of the home began Friday afternoon.
It happened just after midnight Friday morning. Parkersburg Firefighters say when they arrived the house was already fully engulfed.
Neighbors say they heard people yelling inside and saw someone punch through a window, but never saw them come out.
The house doors and windows were all boarded off but neighbors say they believe people looking for shelter would often stay on the top floor.
Fire Chief Eric Taylor says they still can not confirm if anyone was inside.
Taylor say upon arrival firefighters initially went into the house but the flames had already completely taken over the house.
Taylor says they fought the fire for over two hours.
He says the house is still unsafe and they are waiting until better daylight to investigate the fire from inside and to see if anyone was inside.
