UPDATE 7/25/2014 4:40 PM

The City of Belpre reminds commercial truck drivers the clearance signs on the railroad bridge mean what they say.

It has happened before on local bridges, but the truck that was lodged under the railroad bridge above Main Street Thursday was carrying heavy equipment.

The result was one injury and damage to several vehicles.

It's something that has happened before, but it usually involves just one vehicle and doesn't result in injuries.

Belpre Police Chief Ernie Clevenger reminds truck drivers that the clearance for that underpass is 13 feet, six inches - something the chief has measured himself.

A Harrisville woman injured in the accident, Sandra Bugby, was taken to Camden Clark Medical Center and later released.

A heavy duty collision in Belpre Thursday evening involving four cars and a semi truck.

It happened around 4:30 Thursday evening near the intersection of Main Street and Washington Boulevard.

One woman was sent to Camden Clark Medical Center, then airlifted to another hospital.

Her injuries are unknown at this time.

Main Street was closed for some time, backing up traffic onto the bridge.

Belpre dispatchers say a front loader fell off of the back of the semi truck.

There is also some road damage remaining.
