Free Car Seat Safety Check

Four out of five car seats are used incorrectly.

Safe Kids River Cities offered free car seat checks today to help correct those problems.

They check the latch system, harness, and that each child has the appropriate type of car seat.

Organizers say they want children to leave safer than when they came.

"Even educated people who really love and care about their children will sometimes misuse a car seat. Car seats are all different, vehicles are all different so it is difficult to know each individual one," says Child Passenger Safety Technician Jonni Tucker.

Tucker says parents should read the vehicle and car seat manuals before installation.

The Marietta Health Department does car seat checks by appointment.
