Global Palate Dinner Kicks Off International Week

Marietta College held it's annual Global Palate Dinner Monday evening to kick off International Week.

This year's theme was Mexico as people got to witness several dance performances.

Burritos, quesadillas and chopped chicken were among the foods being served at the Global Palate Dinner.

The college's Modern Language Department originated International Week 16 years ago.

It's a way to get the students in the spirit of learning more about different ethnic cultures.

"Well you know, Marietta is a relatively rural community and we don't necessarily have a lot of opportunities for students to experience diversity from other parts of the world and so we hold these events to give them a chance to engage with experiences they might not have otherwise," says Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion at Marietta College, Doctor Richard K. Danford.

Sister Francisca Aguillon from the group, Danza Azteca and Ballet Folklorico was the guest emcee for the dinner.

She's originally from Mexico.
