HIV Testing Still Available Despite Funding Cuts

By  |

Numbers are dropping for people infected with HIV in West Virginia and now federal funding is being cut from HIV-AIDS programs across the state.

The state's Department of Health and Human Resources says cuts will total around 617 thousand dollars.

The Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department says the cuts won't affect them. People will still be able to get testing.

"We won't be able to receive funding for HIV clinics specifically, but we can still do the testing through our STD clinics, funded through the state STD program," says Clinical Director, Tonia Lang RN.

The money pulled from West Virginia will be redirected to states with higher infection rates.
